How to Disable Audience Network Placement in Meta Ad Account Settings

Remove low-quality placements, meet Stellantis standards, and drive better ad performance.

Meta has introduced a new account-level setting under Ad Account Controls that directly impacts where your ads are shown.

Even if you use Advantage+ placements, Meta will still include Audience Network unless you manually opt out at the ad account level.

What’s Changing?

  • Meta has made it possible to disable placements account-wide, not just at the campaign or ad set level.

  • Audience Network (which includes native apps, banners, and rewarded video ads) is enabled by default unless you manually deselect it.

  • This is not a BuyerBridge platform change—it must be updated inside Meta Business Manager.

💡 BuyerBridge Recommendation

BuyerBridge recommends disabling Audience Network for all automotive campaigns to improve:

  • Traffic quality

  • Transparency in reporting

  • OEM brand alignment

👮 This setting is now a requirement for all Stellantis campaigns and a best practice recommendation for all BuyerBridge partners managing automotive campaigns.

Why Remove Audience Network?

Audience Network placements allow Meta to show your ads in third-party apps and outside websites, not just Facebook and Instagram.

While this can expand reach, it often results in:

  • Lower-quality traffic

  • Poorer conversion signals

  • Less brand control (especially for OEM programs)

By disabling it, you can concentrate your ad spend on higher-performing placements with stronger intent and better outcomes.

3 Easy Steps to Update Meta Settings - (This takes less than 2 minutes per ad account)

Step 1: Open Ad Account Settings

  • Go to Meta Business Settings --> Accounts Center

  • Select the ad account you want to update (upper right corner)

  • Click into Account Controls

Step 2: Find Ad Account Controls

  • Locate the Placement Controls section
