How To Use The Facebook Marketplace Management Tool (For Agencies)

⚠️  Important:  Marketplace Tool Will Soon Be Removed ⚠️

Due to Facebook’s continued deprecation of Facebook Marketplace Posting on behalf of Dealership Pages, we will soon be removing the Facebook Marketplace Posting Tool from our platform on 10/1/22. Click here to learn more.

Important Message - 09/10/21: We are aware of a current issue for Marketplace listings wherein vehicle listings posted through non-dealer accounts are being flagged or receiving the error, "Error performing query."  This is a widespread issue and non-specific to our Marketplace Tool; it is on Facebook's end due to increased permissions required for Marketplace postings. We have escalated the issue to our contacts at Facebook and are optimistic for a fast resolution.

REMINDER: On September 13, 2021, Facebook discontinued the distribution of inventory partner catalog listings on Facebook Marketplace. While Facebook is encouraging manual uploads to Marketplace as an alternative, we have been working hard to build a new Facebook Marketplace solution for our partners. As of September 13th, 2021 (when Marketplace’s "legacy" posting solution was officially deprecated), your agency and dealer clients now have access to BuyerBridge’s Facebook Marketplace Listing Manager tool.

What Is The BuyerBridge Marketplace Management Tool?

Our Facebook Marketplace Management Tool will help you evaluate a dealer's current inventory, run that information against what has actually been posted on Marketplace, and generate what we refer to as “Marketplace Tasks.”

While this Marketplace solution requires manual lift from your agency, you will find that it drastically reduces the time it takes to identify, post, update, and delete dealer listings.

These “Tasks” will make it easier for you, or your dealership users, to understand exactly which vehicle listings have sold, been recently updated, or need to be added to Marketplace...saving users potentially hundreds of hours sorting through dealership inventory/DMS systems.

How To Onboard A Dealership Account For The Marketplace Management Tool Through BuyerBridge

Getting your dealer client onboarded to our Marketplace product so they can access our Marketplace Management Tool is simple...

  1. Set up your dealers account
  2. Sync the dealership's Inventory
    • Marketplace only does NOT include access to the Chatbot feature, supports Website Inventory, and will not send out Page Access requests.
    • Marketplace+ DOES include access to our Chatbot feature, supports both Website & Feed Inventory, and will send out Page Access requests.
  3. Check Inventory Status
  4. Review the Onboarding information > click “Complete Onboarding” to be dropped directly into and start using the Marketplace Management Tool!

How To Use The Facebook Marketplace Posting Tool

There are 3 main “Task Types” that our tool will help you identify:

  • Add Tasks: New inventory that is not currently on Marketplace is an “Add” Task.
  • Update Tasks: Inventory already posted becomes an “Update” Task when BuyerBridge identifies any fields that have changed since the last time the listing was updated on Marketplace.
  • Delete Tasks: Sold inventory that is currently listed on Marketplace becomes a “Delete” Task.

Our system will recompute a user's Marketplace task 4 times a day (every time BuyerBridge uploads/updates inventory), and de-duplicates tasks in real time so that each vehicle can only ever have 1 task associated with it.

Both agencies and dealers will have visibility into Total Pending Tasks.

To begin running through ALL tasks, users can either:

  • Click the blue “Start Posting” button.
  • Or, choose to run through each Task Group separately by clicking on the specific sections of the bar chart for “Add,” “Update,” and “Delete” Tasks.

Many partners opt to run through each Task Group separately and create internal rules around which groups are most important to their clients.

For example, some clients prefer to have priority on ensuring sold inventory is removed off of Marketplace (“Delete” Tasks), so these are executed every day...and wanting existing listings to be accurate (“Update” Tasks) are less of a priority and are only executed once a week.

This tool is malleable to help you meet your clients’ needs.

How To “Add” New Marketplace Listings

Click on the green “Add” section of the Task bar to begin adding new inventory into Marketplace.

The slide-out Task Panel will appear and allow you to easily walk through each “Add” task.

STEP 1: “Open Facebook Listing Form”

This will open the specific vehicle’s listing form on Facebook for you to input information. Pull this up side-by-side with our Management Tool.

STEP 2: Copy and paste the fields

The panel will display all of the fields you need to add to Facebook. Simply copy and paste each field from the Marketplace Management Tool into the vehicle listing form.

For images, our system will help you download a ZIP file that contains all related vehicle images. You can then upload up to 20 images from the ZIP file directly into the image field on the Facebook form.

STEP 3: Save your vehicle listing

Save/publish your listing on Facebook and add the URL into the “Listing URL” field in the Marketplace Management Tool.

This is important so that we can retain visibility into your posted inventory and monitor for future updates that may be required.

NOTE: This must be pasted exactly from Facebook or it will not work.

STEP 4: Complete & Next

Click Complete & Next and we will populate the next task required until there are 0 “Add” tasks.

How To “Update” Existing Listings

Click on the purple “Update” section of the Task bar to begin updating any existing Marketplace listings that have changed and require revisions.

The slide-out Task Panel will appear and allow you to easily walk through each “Update” task.

STEP 1: “Open Existing/Original Listing”

This will open the existing vehicle’s listing form on Facebook for you to update the information. Pull this up side-by-side with our Management Tool.

STEP 2: Copy and paste the fields.

The panel will display all of the fields you need to update or add from the Marketplace Management Tool into Facebook. This will likely have fewer fields required compared to the Add tasks, as we will only show the fields that need to be changed!

STEP 3: Complete & Next

Click Complete & Next and we will populate the next task required until there are 0 “Update” tasks.

There are 3 options for you to move on from an “Update” Task:

1. Ignore For Today: This will make the Task disappear from the Management Tool until the following day.

2. Ignore Forever: This will make it so the Task and related vehicle will never appear in the Management Tool again if this is selected.

3. Skip For Now: This will allow you to temporarily skip the current Task and move on to the next one, but will appear the next time the Task queue is opened.

How To “Delete” Existing Listings

Click on the orange “Delete” section of the Task bar to begin deleting any listings that our system identifies as sold.

The slide-out Task Panel will appear and allow you to easily walk through each “Delete” task.

STEP 1: “Open Manage Inventory”

Click on the Open Manage Inventory button to open Facebook’s Manage Inventory page.

STEP 2: Find the vehicle.

The vehicle we have identified will be in bold below, with the Make/Model, Price, and listing published date.

Search in Facebook’s Manage Inventory page for the vehicle. (TIP: Use the following keyboard shortcuts to “Find” text on the page based on the vehicle you need to find - Mac: Command+ F | Windows: Ctrl + F)

STEP 3: Mark As Sold.

Mark the vehicle as “Sold” on Facebook.

STEP 4: Complete & Next

Click Complete & Next and we will populate the next task required until there are 0 “Delete” tasks.

How BuyerBridge Resellers Are Maximizing This Tool

We understand that this solution still requires a manual lift from your team, or for your dealership clients.

Some agency partners we’ve shared this tool with have arranged the following strategies:

  • Outsource the task completion project to an outside team
  • Train existing team members to complete the tasks
  • Pass the responsibility to the dealership-clients
